{"id":269,"date":"2012-08-09T13:24:14","date_gmt":"2012-08-09T20:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.stanford.edu\/group\/vista\/cgi-bin\/wandell\/?page_id=269"},"modified":"2022-06-20T10:34:36","modified_gmt":"2022-06-20T17:34:36","slug":"software","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wandell.vista.su.domains\/blog\/software\/","title":{"rendered":"Software"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/flywheel.io\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel.io<\/a> &#8211; Cloud-scale collaborative science<\/h2>\n<p>Flywheel is hosting <a href=\"https:\/\/flywheel.io\/blog\/\" target=\"_blank\">blog<\/a>\u00a0pages that describe the principles and implementations in Flywheel.io.\u00a0 This is a\u00a0list of some of the blogs I wrote about the Flywheel principles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/flywheel.io\/2019\/10\/24\/flywheel-delivers-fair-principles\/\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel delivers FAIR<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/flywheel.io\/2019\/12\/02\/flywheel-delivers-data-management\/\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel delivers Data Management<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/flywheel.io\/2019\/12\/03\/flywheel-delivers-reproducibility\/\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel delivers Reproducibility<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Flywheel introduction\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JUoSejTxXUw?list=PLbHAcQ5FI8eWgsUoagdAW56fw94qFnfq5\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel video introduction<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>About Flywheel.io:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong> The Simons Foundation generously\u00a0supported\u00a0the development of software\u00a0for scientific data management.\u00a0 The initial concepts and implementation were developed\u00a0at Stanford in the CNI are now being developed and extended by <a href=\"http:\/\/flywheel.io\" target=\"_blank\">Flywheel.io<\/a>.\u00a0 The Flywheel platform has been adopted by more than 30 academic centers and\u00a0commercial partners.<\/p>\n<h3><em>Historical Flywheel<\/em><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An example of Flywheel from a couple of years ago, along with the nice artwork from Laura Jacobson, is presented\u00a0on the <a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/customers\/stanford-cni-and-vista-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\">Google Customers page.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/wandell.vista.su.domains\/blog\/talks-and-tutorials\/\" target=\"_blank\">Videos section<\/a> of\u00a0my web pages, you can find two talks about the project.<\/li>\n<li>Flywheel has implemented the BIDS format into their product.\u00a0 Collaboration!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Open source and free software<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>projects<\/h2>\n<p>Members of the lab (and I) maintain various MR physics and engineering tools in several github accounts.\u00a0These include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/isetcam\/isetcam\/wiki\">ISETCAM<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; (image systems engineering toolbox for cameras).\u00a0 This project includes a set of\u00a0repositories to\u00a0support camera design and analysis.\u00a0 This includes the modern implementation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/wandell\/SCIELAB-1996\">S-CIELAB (1998) image quality metric<\/a>.\u00a0 The tools here were the basis of the company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imageval.com\">Imageval<\/a>, which supported the development of CMOS imagers at more than 80 companies around the world.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/isetbio\/isetbio\/wiki\/Introduction-to-ISETBIO\">ISETBIO<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; (image systems engineering toolbox for biology). This project includes a set of repositories to model of the front end of the human visual system, from scene radiance to retinal ganglion cell responses.\u00a0 This is a very active project in collaboration with Brainard and Cottaris at U. Penn.\u00a0 How is the modeling going?\u00a0 We are part of the way there, and I am very excited!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/vistalab\/vistasoft\/wiki\" target=\"_blank\">VISTASOFT<\/a>\u00a0 &#8211; This\u00a0project includes methods for analyzing fMRI, diffusion weighted imaging, anatomical data, and ECoG data. Over the last twenty years, many people have contributed to this repository (Steve Engel, Alex Wade, Bob Dougherty, Franco Pestilli, Alyssa Brewer, Jon Winawer, Jason Yeatman, Ariel Rokem, Dora Hermes, Dave Heeger, Geoff Boynton).\u00a0 Over the last few years Jon Winawer and his team have been the most active group maintaining and extending the software.
